As mentioned before in this space I’ve been working within Doctor Who fandom since 1981, more than half my life.

I’ve never been in this position before.

While you let the mystery of that deepen just a little I’m referring to this: This is the first time that I have truly had new Doctor Who to watch each week. Now to clarify it should be said that when riding the crest Doctor Who as a PBS phenomenon in the mid-80’s, there was always something to look forward to, be it the Jon Pertwee stories and reaching back to Troughton and Hartnell or forward all the way to McCoy. I was able to begin from a standing start in 1985 to completing my Doctor Who collection (as it could exist then) in about four years. The stories were shown in movie format, all of which was good, but at that time we knew what was coming.

Not anymore, and what a joy that is!

Now I get to share in a experience British fans have held forever, anticipating next week’s adventure.

I'm sure it hasn't escaped notice that it is indeed a very quiet time for the site. Work tumult and work with video have been consuming, but the viewing of a certain leaked video has stoked the engines once again and we are on course for a large update on or before March 26th. Those wondering whether screen caps for the new series will be available here should know that the decision on whether these will be put up has not been made yet as people are likely to be quite sensitive about their potential inclusion anywhere on the web. Tempted though.

A quiet time for the site. It looks like March 26th is the likely starting date for the new series. We should begin putting working on the next site update in the coming week.

Been a while since the right hand side of the page has been updated… where we occasionally ruminate about things not necessarily Doctor Who. A small confession first: Doctor Who was not my first TV SF 'love.' While familiar with Star Trek in repeats the first series I chose to call my own was… Battlestar Galactica. An awkward, too-close-for-Lucas-comfort series which ran for one year only, 1978-79. I loved it to death. Now there's a new re-imagining of the series (proper) which will air on Sci-Fi beginning in January but whose episodes have been airing in the UK already.

It's a better series. No doubt about it.

Thing is… I don't care as I will dance with the 'girl' who brought me. Nevertheless I will continue to watch new series, hopeful that this time 'round, it gets a better chance to evolve than it did the first time. My guess is that I will feel much the same way when another series returns after a very long time away next March.

The TARDIS whirled on it's way again. The Doctor listened to Sara and Steven as they recovered from their recent exertions. Sara asked, "Whatever was that place?"
"I've no idea," Steven replied, "Let's hope we never land there again." He heard a tinkling sound and looked up to see the Doctor carrying a silver tray with three crystal wine glasses, brimful. "we so rarely get a chance to celebrate," remarked the Doctor at their unspoken questions.
"Celebrate?" the mystified Steven asked.
"Don't you remember? In the Police Station – it was Christmas."
"So it was," smiled Steven, taking the proffered glass.
"Here's a toast. A Happy Christmas to all of us," said the Doctor, bending a benign smile on his young companions. Then he raised his glass high, saluting a host of Absent Friends and turned away.
"And incidentally – a happy Christmas, to all of you at home."

It's that time of year again. Time to dust off our little Tradition and showcase the Christmas crossover that only Doctor Who could do. Have a 'Feast' with The Feast of Steven.

Filming has been underway for almost a month now. More details about ancillary casting have drifted out. Some production images have likewise drifted out, but we're not going to be featuring those for the time being, allowing for their display elsewhere for a while. We shall stick to miscellaneous pictures of the actors involved for now, but because of the burgeoning size (500 images and counting) we have, for the time being, reverted to the 'McGann display format' of galleries of 100 (mixed) images or so. As always this still might be subject to change as events warrant. Have fun…
