After five occasionally long years, the Tragical History Tour is proud to announce the end of "Primary Image Acquisition!"  What exactly does this mean?  Only that I have completed as an ongoing scanning project importing images from all of my various and sundry sources.  Thus the image count which has been steadily rising for over two years and now resides at a tidy 6620 images, will now slow down in growth considerably.

What does this mean for the Tour and the site?  Simply that whereas I have been almost single-mindedly focused of late in completing PIA, I can now re-focus my efforts at improving the site as a whole, expanding the reach of services beyond the four currently offered (including much more regular Eye of Orion updates) .  Heck I might will work in the site re-design that I promised would happen at the beginning of the year.  As for the site, remember that the Tour never ends…  The current cycle of images running through The Cloister Room will run until March 2002, which we fully intend to see through.  Visitor counts are way up of late.  Thanx again for all who visit with regularity.

There should also be an Eye of Orion update coming during the first ten days of October.

The Tour forges forward in the Pertwee era with the most anonymous of his seasons, the ninth, in The Cloister Room.  Meanwhile in The Panopticon we are looking at the latest addition to 'The Century Club.'

5000.gif (21902 bytes)Well bless my soul!  The site has received it's first award, getting the coveted "Web Guide Gold" from Paul Harman and the Web Guide to Doctor Who.  Thanx  much!

The Tour has moved into the heart of the Troughton era, Season 5 — universally revered as "The Monster Season."  And why not?   Two of the "big five" of Doctor Who monsters — the Yeti and the Ice Warriors — were created during this season.  Look in The Cloister Room to see the associated stills.  Menawhile in The Panopticon we are taking our first look at the Paul McGann selection of pictures.

Sigh…  Well Tour vets, the long promised site re-design isn't quite here yet.  I had hoped to have it ready for the re-presentation of Season 1 pictures.  We're now into Season 2 and I still haven't found time to pull it all together.  It is coming together in frustratingly small bites here and there, and the teething pains (since I haven't tried anything quite like this for a while) can be unnerving.  Be patient.  Hopefully I can be.  Plus don't surprised if in the end the new design looks suspiciously like the old one.

The Tour continues to expand and grow, and not just as an image library.  Yet another update has been completed bringing the overall image total over the 5200 mark. (over a five-fold increase in image count since the Tour started).  The site redesign as promised is coming along,  slowly.  We have re-ordered the release schedule, with the season-by-season presentation of pictures in The Cloister Room will be starting over with Season 1.

The Tour has begun anew as we continue moving through the Hartnell era as Season 2 is presented in The Cloister Room whilst in The Panopticon we are using February as a theme for selecting two-part madness.

The Tour continues to expand and grow, and not just as an image library.  Yet another update has been completed bringing the overall image total over the magical, coveted 5000 mark. (nearly a five-fold increase in image count since the Tour started).  The site redesign as promised is coming along,  slowly.  We are also re-ordering the release schedule, with the season-by-season presentation of pictures in The Cloister Room will be starting over with Season 1.

"The Randomizer" has been introduced to Doctor Who's Tragical History Tour (not to be confused with the late lamented "site randomizer" from Logopolis.com's old site). Whereas the Cloister Room proceeds sequentially through the history of the program (starting again with Season 1 February 1st) and the Panopticon packages images in different themed formats, the Randomizer is just what it sounds like. Each week (usually on Monday) the THT brain-wizards will let the computer randomly pick a Doctor Who story to showcase, whether it’s a classic like The Caves of Androzani or a stinker like The Horns of Nimon.   You can access it here.

In previous updates I've been advertising that I would be looking for input into future direction for the site.  Whilst The Cloister Room runs through the history of the show sequentially, The Panopticon, in addition to being the place where miscellaneous pictures from each Doctor's era are presented, is designed to showcase different themes of pictures.  Some of these themes are topical, others downright silly.  How you (yes, YOU) can help is to suggest a theme for a given month's worth of pictures, beginning with the February 15th, 2000 selection.  Make these different Eye of Orion requests by considering those facets of the program which can span different eras of the program.   Send them along, then see what happens.

We will have another update to the The Eye of Orion shortly.

The Tour has come to the end of the road, at least the first time around, as we discover why Ace is the place as the 26th Season arrives in The Cloister Room whilst in The Panopticon we are looking at the miscellaneous Sylvester McCoy pictures. Don't forget to visit the 'sister' site The MUM Page.

The Tour presently forms three parts, all of which will be rotated on a regular basis:

  • The Cloister Room. Our "Season in Review" gallery. Every Month stills from a season of the program will be displayed. Season 26 is now up for review..
  • The Panopticon. Each month we'll pick a theme for a special themed set of stills, sometimes topical, other times downright silly. In January It's a New Year… Out with the old, the REALLY, REALLY old!
  • The Eye of Orion.   Our request gallery… now open.
